Vegan Beer!

You may be thinking, why the hell wouldn’t beer be vegan?
Well, the answer to that is something called Isinglass. Isinglass is a substance derived from the dried swim bladder of fish (gross). In the traditional brewing process, it is used to fine real ale. Luckily, in this day an age there are alternatives and so most beer is actually vegan. Generally, if something is on tap its probably vegan, it’s mainly cask ales you need to worry about. Although, another non-vegan ingredient is milk or lactose, this is common in stouts and porters so look out for that! Often though this is clearly labelled as its an allergen.
So, what beer is actually vegan? Here’s a list of mainstream beers that are vegan you can find in your local pub, and also some independent breweries that produce vegan beers….
